How We Got There (Ongoing)
For the past few years the idea of blending disparate artistic genres and melding themes of so-called “high” and “low” art has been a focal point of my work, both in my photography as well as my music. I document objects I possess, the spaces I inhabit and I make self-portraits. In general, I rely on my own physicality and personal space while shaping the work. I sometimes leave the space as it already exists, while at other times I “tweak” reality to better represent a concept or feeling. I’m interested in the idea of what’s real and what’s a fabrication. I hope my audience will have the experience of catching a glimpse into my world, through my eyes and ears, coming away having learned something about me whether it’s a fabrication or not. In the end, it’s always about the experience. Does it really matter how we get there?
